Are events free

Overview

One of the most important things to understand about The Secret Society before you attend your first event: you never pay to attend. There are no tickets, no entry fees, and no hidden costs. Every experience — the food, the drinks, the access, the hospitality — is complimentary. This article explains exactly how that works, what you receive, and what you are expected to give in return.

Events on The Secret Society Are Completely Free

Every activation on the platform operates on a barter model. This means:

  • You do not purchase a ticket
  • You do not pay an entry fee
  • You do not pay for the experience at the venue

The experience — whatever it includes, whether that is a dinner, cocktails, a spa treatment, a venue visit, or any other format — is offered to you at no cost.

This is not a promotion, a giveaway, or a limited-time offer. It is the core model of how The Secret Society works. Every event, for every guest, is free to attend.

What You Receive

When you attend an event, you receive the full experience as described in the offer attached to that event. This offer is clearly listed in the event details before you accept the invitation and is specific to each activation.

The offer might include:

  • A complimentary dining experience
  • A complimentary drinks package or cocktails
  • Access to a venue, space, or experience that is not normally publicly available
  • A treatment, service, or hospitality experience
  • Any combination of the above, as defined per event

Whatever the offer states is what you should receive when you attend. If the offer says you will receive a three-course dinner and cocktails, that is what the venue is committing to provide.

Always read the offer before accepting an invitation. The offer is one of the most important pieces of information in the event details — it tells you exactly what the experience includes so you know what to expect.

What You Give in Return

The experience is free — but it is not without expectation. In exchange for receiving the complimentary experience, you are expected to produce and publish content after attending.

These post-event content requirements are called deliverables.

Deliverables are defined per event and may include:

  • Instagram Stories posted within 24 to 48 hours
  • Feed posts or static posts published to your main grid
  • Reels or short-form video content
  • Written reviews submitted through the platform

By accepting an invitation, you are agreeing to this exchange:

You receive the experience. The venue receives the content.

This is the barter model. The venue is not paying you a fee and you are not paying the venue an entry price. Instead, both sides exchange something of value — an experience for content.

Why You Must Review Deliverables Before Accepting

Because the free experience and the deliverables are directly linked, you cannot think of them separately. They are two sides of the same agreement.

Before you accept any invitation, you must review:

  • What the offer includes — so you know what experience you are receiving
  • What the deliverables require — so you know what content you are committing to produce

Accepting an invitation means agreeing to both. If you attend the event and enjoy the complimentary experience but do not complete your deliverables, you have not held up your end of the exchange. This is treated as a serious breach and results in a Strike on your account.

The model only works when both sides fulfill their commitment. The venue delivers the experience. You deliver the content.

Does the Offer Change Between Events?

Yes. Every event has its own offer, and offers vary significantly between venues, event formats, and activation types. One event might offer a full dinner experience. Another might offer cocktails and canapes. Another might offer exclusive venue access with a drinks package.

The offer for each specific event is listed in the event details. Always read it before accepting — do not assume that the offer for one event will be the same as for another.

What If the Offer Was Not Delivered as Described?

If you attend an event and the experience you received did not match what was described in the offer — for example, the menu was different, items were excluded, or the service fell significantly short of what was promised — this is worth reporting.

Contact the support team through the in-app chat after the event. Include:

  • The event name and date
  • What the offer described
  • What you actually received
  • Any relevant details about what was missing or different

The platform takes the accuracy of offers seriously. Venues commit to delivering what is stated, and discrepancies are reviewed by the support team.

Summary

Every event on The Secret Society is free to attend. There are no tickets, entry fees, or costs of any kind. You receive a complimentary experience — as defined in the event's offer — in exchange for producing and publishing content after attending. This barter model is the foundation of the platform. Always read both the offer and the deliverables before accepting an invitation, because accepting means committing to both sides of the exchange. Failing to complete deliverables after receiving the free experience is a breach of the agreement and results in a Strike.
