Understanding deliverables
Overview
Deliverables are one of the most important concepts on The Secret Society platform. They define what you owe after attending an event and form the basis of the value exchange between you, the venue, and the platform. Understanding what deliverables are, how they work, and why they exist will help you approach every event with the right mindset and avoid penalties that result from incomplete participation.
What Deliverables Are
Deliverables are the specific actions you are required to complete after attending an event. They are not optional extras or suggestions — they are mandatory requirements that come with the invitation you accepted.
Deliverables typically involve content creation and sharing. Common types of deliverables include:
- Posting photos or videos on social media platforms
- Tagging the venue, the event, or The Secret Society in your posts
- Submitting written reviews of the experience
- Creating and sharing Stories, Reels, or similar content formats
- Providing specific types of media as defined in the event details
The exact deliverables for each event are listed in the event description. They vary by event, by venue, and by the type of experience being offered.
Why Deliverables Exist
Deliverables are the core of the value exchange that makes The Secret Society model work.
Venues offer exclusive experiences — access to their spaces, complimentary services, and curated events. In return, they expect genuine, high-quality content that showcases their venue to a wider audience. This is how venues benefit from participating in the platform: through authentic exposure to real audiences.
For users, deliverables are the commitment that makes the experience possible. By completing deliverables honestly and thoroughly, you fulfill your end of the agreement and ensure that the ecosystem remains functional and fair.
When deliverables are consistently completed at a high standard, venues continue to offer experiences, the platform grows, and users enjoy increasing access to better opportunities. When deliverables are skipped or completed poorly, the system breaks down for everyone.
When Deliverables Become Active
Deliverables do not become active the moment you accept an event. They are unlocked only after you have checked in properly at the venue.
This sequencing is intentional. Check-in proves that you were physically present at the event. Only once your attendance is verified does it make sense for the platform to activate your post-event responsibilities.
This is one of the key reasons why check-in is so critical. If you skip check-in or it fails to register correctly, your deliverables may not appear in the system, and you may be unable to submit them even if you attended the event.
The "To Deliver" Section
All of your pending deliverables are displayed in the "To Deliver" section of the app. Once you have checked in at an event, that event will appear here with a list of everything you need to complete.
The "To Deliver" section functions as your post-event task dashboard. It tells you:
- Which events have outstanding deliverables
- What specific requirements are associated with each event
- How much time you have remaining to complete each task
Make it a habit to open the "To Deliver" section after every event and immediately begin working on your submissions. Do not leave deliverables until the last moment — the 24-hour window passes quickly, especially when other commitments come up.
How Deliverables Are Structured
Deliverables are organized into separate blocks, with each block representing one specific requirement. This structure is designed to provide clarity and prevent confusion.
For example, an event might have three blocks:
- Block 1: Post a photo to your main feed with the venue tagged
- Block 2: Share a Story within 24 hours of attending
- Block 3: Submit a written review through the app
Each block must be completed individually. You cannot combine two requirements into one submission, and you cannot skip a block because you completed the others. Every block has its own upload or submission field that must be fulfilled separately.
This structure ensures that you address each requirement in its designated place, making the review process straightforward for the QC team.
Deliverables for Additional Guests
If your event allowed or required an additional guest, there may be separate blocks in your deliverables for guest-related content. These blocks represent content or actions that the guest is expected to produce.
This creates an important responsibility: even though the guest creates the content, the booking holder is fully accountable for ensuring all guest deliverables are submitted correctly and on time.
This means you must:
- Brief your guest before the event on exactly what content is required
- Coordinate with them during the event to ensure the right material is captured
- Collect the content from them after the event
- Upload it correctly into the designated guest deliverable blocks
If a guest fails to create their content, or if you fail to collect and submit it, the incomplete deliverable is treated as your failure. There is no separate penalty for the guest — the responsibility sits entirely with you as the booking holder.
The 24-Hour Deadline
All deliverables must be completed and submitted within 24 hours of the event. This is a firm deadline that applies without exceptions.
The 24-hour window exists to ensure that content is posted while the experience is still fresh and relevant. Venues benefit most from content that goes live shortly after the event, when the moment is still timely and the content is engaging. Delayed posts lose much of their value.
Tips for meeting the deadline:
- Start working on your deliverables immediately after the event, not the next morning
- If your event ends late, plan to work on content the same night
- Do not let post-event fatigue cause you to delay — the window is shorter than it feels
- Set a reminder on your phone for 20 hours after the event as a last-chance alert
What to Do If You Struggle With a Deliverable
If you encounter a technical problem, a content challenge, or any other issue that is preventing you from completing a deliverable:
- Do not ignore it and hope the deadline passes without consequence
- Reach out to The Secret Society support team as early as possible
- Explain the issue clearly and provide any relevant details
Acting early gives the support team the best chance to assist you or note any extenuating circumstances. Waiting until the deadline has passed makes resolution much harder.
Summary
Deliverables are mandatory post-event requirements that form the foundation of your participation agreement with venues and the platform. They typically involve creating and sharing content, and they become active only after a valid check-in. All deliverables are displayed in the "To Deliver" section and must be completed within 24 hours of the event. They are organized into separate blocks, each representing one specific requirement that must be fulfilled individually. If you have a guest, you are fully responsible for their deliverables as well. Take deliverables seriously from the moment you accept an invitation — they are not an afterthought, they are a core part of what you agreed to.
